Jack Brabham
Brabham’s legacy is rooted in the journey of Sir Jack Brabham, whose fascination with engineering was shaped during World War II while working on aircraft construction. After dominating Australian motorsport with several national titles in the late 1940s and early 1950s, he relocated to the United Kingdom in 1955 to pursue his ambitions on the world stage. There, he entered Formula One with Cooper and went on to claim consecutive World Drivers’ Championships in 1959 and 1960.
In 1960, Sir Jack partnered with fellow Australian engineer Ron Tauranac to establish the Brabham Racing Organisation. The team rapidly became a force in Formula One, reaching its pinnacle in 1966 when Sir Jack secured another Drivers’ Championship — a historic achievement that made him the only driver to win a Formula One World Championship in a car carrying his own name, a distinction that remains unmatched.

This coin is the only officially authorized commemorative issue honouring this milestone. The design was created by Jody Clark, renowned British engraver and former Royal Mint artist, awarded for designing the final portrait of Queen Elizabeth II for UK and Australian coinage.
Developed in close collaboration with the Brabham family, the design was approved for minting and manufactured by The Commonwealth Mint, a British private mint specializing in high-quality commemorative coins for collectors worldwide.
